Project Goals
PARA has several project goals: (1) define reading proficiency in these richly diverse and technologically advanced times; (2) use the definition (in its operationalized form) as a basis for research on factors that affect achievement on large-scale reading assessments; (3) develop principles and guidelines for the development of accessible reading assessments based on the definition and our research; and (4) develop and field test assessments reflecting our research-based principles and guidelines. Input from reasoned scholars, key national stakekeholders, expert advisers, and the end users of assessments will be utilized to create more accessible reading assessments.
