Partnership for Accessible Reading Assessment

The Partnership for Accessible Reading Assessment (PARA) is a research and development project funded by the National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER) to make reading assessments more accessible for students with disabilities that affect reading. PARA is a five-year project that was established in October 2004. The project focuses on all disabilities that affect reading, particularly as the project identifies the issues that exist and the possible solutions. During field testing, PARA will include all students in sampled classrooms and will over-sample students with learning disabilities, speech-language impairment, mental retardation, and deaf/hearing impairment.

PARA is a part of the National Accessible Reading Assessment Projects (NARAP).
